Classes We Offer

Our classes do not have levels. We believe that yoga should be practiced mindfully. This means listening to your body, using modifications, and basically – doing what feels right for you. This will help you find the yogi within. Because of this, anyone can participate in any class at Bay Ridge Yoga. Our classes are open to all!

Yoga

Suitable for all levels. Basic Yoga focuses on flowing from pose to pose and linking the movement with the breath. The instructor will offer a variety of modifications to encourage participation of everyone. We do sitting, standing, and inverted postures, and suggest challenging variations for more advanced students, yet fun and non-intimidating options for newer students.

Gentle Yoga

Suitable for all levels. A restful, calming class including breathing, gentle flowing movements, passive and supported poses. This is a perfect beginning yoga class that is also appropriate for those working with injury, limited mobility, or who prefer a softer, gentler approach to yoga.

Power Flow

Suitable for all levels. This Vinyasa Flow yoga class will get your body moving. Continual movement through yoga postures gets your heart-rate up while balancing postures and core sections will keep you focused and strong. Modifications are highlighted in order to make the class achievable for all.

Yin Yoga

Suitable for all levels. Yin Yoga invites you to slow down and create space for stillness while nourishing joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Yin is yoga at its coolest, deepest, quietest, stillest moments. This class will have you on the floor most of the time, using as many props needed to create as little effort while holding poses. Poses are held for 3-5 minutes allowing joints and fascia to release. This class will complement your Vinyasa practice and will open and release areas in need of more stretching.

Breath, Movement and Restore

Suitable for all levels. This class will begin with breath work and meditation followed by Yoga movements for stretching and strengthening. The class with conclude with restful restorative poses. Restorative poses bring the body back to a relaxed state and connects the movements with the mind and body. Props will be used to accommodate the practitioner’s needs for more efficient movement. Chair practitioners are also welcomed.

Breath-Centered Vinyasa

Suitable for all levels. This vinyasa class will include a flowing movement practice where transitions within and between postures are linked to the breath. We will spend time focusing on different aspects of our breathing through various movement explorations and pranayama practices. We’ll find ways of engaging our breath that help us connect with our inner strength and support, and discover the role our breathing plays in helping us to release tension and holding patterns.

Body Sculpt Yoga

Body Sculpt Yoga (BSY) is a mix of traditional yoga poses incorporated with other forms of fitness, such as dance, calisthenics, and light resistance training. This blending of techniques focuses on combining mind and body exercises with the benefits of strength, aerobics, balance and flexibility.

 

Staying true to yoga practice, BSY allows you to flex both your spiritual and physical muscles and makes you feel energized rejuvenated, blissful, and OM-azing!

Flow and Restore

Suitable for all levels. This class will cover all the bases. It will begin with a short meditation, followed by a gentle flow sequence with an emphasis on alignment and finish with a series of restorative poses to cool down. Practice with attention and intention while learning how to move skillfully on your mat. Your mind, body, and soul will thank you.

Chair Yoga

Suitable for all levels. This class is a gentle form of yoga. You will practice yoga sitting in a chair or standing using the chair for support. Complicated maneuvers and complex movements are NOT present in this class. You will learn many yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation and ways of relaxation with the aid of a chair.

Core Flow

This class is a core centric workout that will heat up your body from the inside out! This is a challenging Vinyasa class that blends core strengthening exercises and yoga. This core focused flow class is an opportunity to build strength in a yoga setting. Core Flow is a great class to assist in building the strength required for the progression of your more advanced Vinyasa practice.
